A new automated method for obtaining, processing, and storing data from the SmokeDensity Chamber for ASTM, NFPA and FAA/FAR tests.

How would you like to enjoy the following savings of time and effort and money?

  • No more changing ranges on the photometer. No more adjustments for dark current and 100%.
  • No more strip-chart recorder (unless you want it).
  • No more reading chart divisions.
  • No more calculations.
  • No more chart look-ups for conversions.
  • No more watching the test run for a peak. No more timers to start or timing needs.
  • No more ‘baby-sitting’ the Smoke Chamber readout.

The heart of the SMOKEDATA System is a redesigned photometer that digitally displays in reportable units and passes these readings to a computer program that collects, processes, and stores the data and prints reports.

How would you like to enjoy these features and save time and effort and money?

  • Save time by stopping 3 minutes after a Peak or 20 minutes/no Peak.
  • A single knob on the photometer to set a reference; near zero at Begin.
  • A digital display on the Photometer that reads directly in report units.
  • A ‘user friendly’ computer program running in WINDOWS95/98.
  • A screen to enter up to 7 types of information about the sample.
  • A screen to enter operating conditions for the Smoke Chamber.
  • A screen shows information and choice of Flamming or Non-Flamming.
  • A main screen gives buttons to choose the desired operation:
  • Begin run, End run, Abort run, Print Report and Exit/Store. During Run, this screen draws a graph of the data.
  • This screen will show multiple specimen curves in colors.
  • A signal tells when to move the specimen in front of the furnace.
  • A table containing these items for each specimen and for the average: 1.5 minute data 4 minute data
  • Peak data Clear data Corrected data
  • A reading is taken every second and 6 readings are averaged.
  • This gives a smoothed data point for each 0.1 minute.
  • No other operator attention need be given to the Chamber or Computer
until a signal is given to exhaust the smoke.
  • (A signal/display tells when to cover the window for dense smoke.)
(After the signal you have to open the vents and turn on the exhaust blower and then start the Clear operation.)
  • A signal is also given to notify the final end of the specimen run.
Choice is then given to start another new specimen, Print a report, Change mode or Exit and Store.
  • A new Reference data point is obtained for each new specimen.
  • A message gives the place in the test run: Idle, Reference, Run, Clear.
  • Ability to run more than 3 specimens and reject any ‘out-lying’ data.
  • A choice is given to run the other mode: Flamming or Non-Flamming.
  • Data is always stored when a given sample set of runs is exited.
  • Choice to print a report after any specimen run in the sample test.
  • Choice to print a final report with curves (in color if a color printer).
  • Choice to recall data in a Short report or Complete report.
  • The Short report has the data your customer would request.
  • The Complete report gives all information and all data points.
  • The data is in hypertext and can be loaded by EXPLORER 5.0 into WORD, EXCEL, ACCESS, WEB page or other programs. Ability to still use a strip-chart recorder that reads directly; no tables.

ALL the above features and MORE are found in the SMOKEDATA System.
